Hi Lynn I love your pictures! Rapid City is showing up! I saw a bird on the bush beside my car at the office and thought I needed you to identify it. Sparrow size, red shaded feathers on top of head, maybe female of the species. Bruce Herrboldt

Bruce-I'm guessing House Finch male. Sort of sparrow-y and streaky but with the red wash in the head area. Females are like the males but without the red.

I luv the pic of the great blue heron rookery!I live in Ks & I just moved by water so I get to see these amazing birds every day now..just beautiful!!
